I just wrote an essay for my Sociology of Sexuality class and the thesis was basically that The Beatles defined my gender identity and are the earliest influence on it that I can remember. I even argued that despite my already-in-place heterosexuality, The Beatles subconsciously strengthened my desire for women because of the lyrics in their songs. I raised the question Would my identity be different if The Beatles were girls? Would I have tried to dress like them anyway? It’s a loaded question that can’t be answered here or any time soon, but when I thought of “The Girl Beatles” all I could picture was The Like and how unbelievably attracted I am to all four members, particularly Laena Geronimo (lower left corner). Feelin’ philosophical, y’all.
